Laptop won't turn on
No matter what you do, the laptop won't turn on.
Laptop remains off
Plug in your Chromebook into a power outlet and check if the charging light turns on. If it does, try recovering your Chromebook to an earlier point in time. If not, first make sure that the charger is plugged into a working power outlet. Make sure that the charge cables are securely connected to the Chromebook. Charge the device for at least 30 minutes. If the problem persists after trying these steps, try resetting your Chromebook or contact your Chromebook manufacturer.
Drained/bad battery
It could be that a bad battery is preventing your battery from turning on. If the laptop hasn't been used for a while, it could be due to a drained battery. Connect it to a charger and plug it into a wall. The battery charging light on the side of the laptop should turn on to indicate that the battery is charging. If it does not charge, the battery may need to be replaced.
Broken Screen/No display
A broken screen may cause the laptop to appear dysfunctional even if that is not the problem. Hold your ear closely to the bottom of the laptop to hear the fan cooling fan spinning. If this is the case, your screen may be cracked or broken and should be replaced.
System errors or is unresponsive
The system freezes or doesn't respond to user input.
Unresponsive Keyboard
Check to see if the keyboard is connected properly to the motherboard (requires dis-assembly). Unplug the keyboard's ribbon cable from the motherboard and plug it back in. If the problem persists, the keyboard unit needs to be replaced. Spilling drinks on the keyboard or cleaning it with any other liquids can cause it to become unresponsive and will require that the part be replaced.
Mouse does not move.
The touchpad can be temporarily disabled and can sometimes be triggered on accident. Try pressing fn + F7 on the keyboard to enable the touchpad again. If the touchpad remains unresponsive while everything else works, the part may need to be replaced..
Sound doesn't work
First make sure the sound is not muted. The volume control is located in the status area where your account picture is. Adjust the volume slider to the desired volume. Unplug any audio devices such as headphones or speakers. If there is no sound after performing these steps, try restarting your Chromebook. If the problem persists after resetting the Chromebook, consider replacing your sound card and/or contact your Chromebook manufacturer.
Camera doesn't work
If your camera isn't working or you see the "No camera found" message, first turn off your Chromebook and then turn it back on. You can also open another app which uses the camera and see if it works. If it does work, uninstall the app where the camera doesn't work and install it again. If the problem persists after trying these steps, contact your Chromebook manufacturer.
Chromebook crashes and/or is very slow
If your Chromebook consistently freezes for long periods of times, is slow or if it is unresponsive, turn off our Chromebook and turn it back on. Then check for any available updates. If the problem persists, try resetting your Chromebook or recovering it from an earlier point in time..
System update causes error or will not download.
First try restarting your Chromebook. If you are using a mobile data connection for internet, connect to wifi or ethernet instead. If the problem persists, try resetting your Chromebook or recovering it from an earlier point in time.
Can't connect to the internet
In the status area where the account picture appears, check the status icon for the Wifi. If it is on, click on it and select a network to connect to. If it is off, indicated by an 'x', turn it on and then your Chromebook will automatically search for available networks. If you still cannot connect to the internet or the wifi icon remains off no matter what you do, your Wifi card may need to be replaced.
SSD Errors
You are receiving corrupt system files and/or missing operating system errors.
Operating System not found
More often than not this is an error caused by software and not the actual hardware. This error can be resolved by repairing the ChromeOS by running ChromeOS repair. If the problem persists afterwards or if the system repair cannot find the main drive, an SSD failure has occurred and it needs to be replaced. Contact your Chromebook manufacturer.

Chromebook crashes and/or is very slow
This Chromebook is a few years old and it crashes periodically without any obvious cause; Powerwash does not correct the problem. It also gets hung up a lot, most often when opening a .zip file of any size.

Mine was doing same thing. I had to do reset to original defaults under advanced settings. Then, manually deleted all cookies from all websites I've visited under advanced settings - privacy - click content settings button - under cookies, click all "cookies and site data" - then, click on "x" aligned with each site listed that you want to delete. Powerwash won't delete these for you.
