If your Acer Chromebook Spin 511 (C741L) N20Q8 does not connect to a Wi-Fi network despite multiple attempts, follow this troubleshooting guide.
The Wi-Fi Network is Disrupted
Chromebooks can sometimes have issues with connecting to a Wi-Fi network. This can be fixed by attempting to forget the network on the Chromebook and connecting to it again.
- On the bottom right corner of the Chromebook screen, click on the Wi-Fi symbol to open the list of networks on the device.
- Find the correct name of the Wi-Fi that is being attempted to connect to, then click on it to manage its network options.
- Click “Forget” next to the applicable network name.
- After this, attempt to connect to the Wi-Fi again by selecting the network from the list and connect.
- Check if this worked through attempting to access the internet on the Wi-Fi.
The Router is Not Turned On
- Restart your router by first ensuring your router is plugged in and on.
The Router is Not Connecting to Wi-Fi
Chromebooks may have trouble connecting to Wi-Fi due to router issues.
- Press the reset button.
- Hold the reset button for 10 to 30 seconds.
- Then release the button and wait for the router to power back on.
- If this attempt does not work, unplug and replug the router and repeat steps above.
The Router is Too Far From Chromebook
Chromebooks may not be performing well due to distance.
- Move the Chromebook closer to the router.
A Hardware Reset is Needed
If the Chromebook still does not connect to Wi-fi, then the Chromebook hardware may need a hard reset.
A hard reset may delete downloaded files, so make sure to back the computer up first or save important files in a drive.
- First, turn off your Chromebook.
- Hold down both the power button and refresh key ↻.
- As the Chromebook boots up, release the refresh key ↻.
- Wait for a minute.
- Then, attempt to connect to the appropriate Wi-fi setting again.
