I have a 98 honda accord EX and my dash lights do not work properly (they don't turn on). I have tried to adjust the brightness switch, nothing. Their is an aftermarket sony deck that came with the car at the time of purchase. I've read that that may have caused the problem...

Check the wire harnesses in where the passenger side fuse box is, on my car one of the plugs had a loose connection that was causing my dash lights and park lights not to function

Most Definitely a fuse or a loose wire in the fuse box.
I will know for sure tomorrow and hopefully that can help you with your a car problem.
With an aftermarket stereo you should check, I beleave if memory serves mo correctly, itsmthe Orenge wire. It's for the dimmer on the stereo. 9n mine it took out the Multiplex controller modual. I went past it and jumped 2mwires I now have dash lights. Pnly thing is , no more dimmer, the dash lights are on high all the time, I don't mind mine were a little too dim for me anyway ......Good Luck !!!!!!
