Is it possible to upgrade the GPU unit for better graphics

My iMac came with an NVIDIA Geforce 7300 GT 128 MB GPU, is it possible to upgrade this to achieve better performance? I just upgraded the HD and have tons of storage, and have just downloaded OS X Lion. Is this Model just too old for final cut pro? Or even the older version? This has been my pet project. I have a New iMac with all the goodies, and wondered if its even possible to get it near the performance of the latest models. Thanks

Kinda sorta - If you read this thread you will find that you can exchange the card for a similar one, if you can find one that works. You might be able to find/upgrade to a 7600 250MB GPU - that's all.
