Superdrive replacement from UJ-85J to AD-5630A? iMac Intel 20"

Model is:

iMac 5.1 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo

I have a faulty MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-85J. Can it be replaced with SONY-NEC DVD RW Drive AD-5630A?

Also, the AHT is giving me an error 4SNS/1/40000001:VDOR can it be conected with superdrive failure?

Please help!

Hi, The first part 4SNS indicates a sensor problem with the logic board. I believe that VDOR indicates a optical sensor. The suggested cure is to reset the SMC. Ralph

Same error.... after reseting SMC. Reseting PRAM, also didn't help.

Sounds like you need to replace the sensor to me. Nice pick up Ralph +

The optical drive sensor is working in Temperature Monitor Widget and when I increase fan speed the temperature on this sensor are falling down. I have also this SONY-NEC DVD RW Drive AD-5630A but I dont know if is compatibile. If the answer is yes, I will disassembly my iMac

Sorry I can't help, but the 4SNS/1/40000001:VDOR error is driving me crazy too ..

os often hangs and when i use windows I get a Physical memory dump error ...

Was wondering if yor managed to find a solution to the problem ?
