Does the MacBook Air 2013 AirPort Wi-Fi ac card will work?

Hi, I was wondering if the Wi-Fi ac card in the MacBook Air 2013 will work on a MacBook Pro Retina 15 2013.

Can somebody with the two computers (or iFixit) test it?

I have the new AirPort Time Capsule and I'd like to use the Wi-Fi ac!

YES,It works.

I have a MacBook Pro 15 with Retina display (mid-2012) and MacBook Air 13 (mid-2013). I swap the Air's AirPort card to rMBP. It works, it can work with 802.11 ac from my new AirPort Time Capsule (2013 3TB version).

But, two issues here.

1, The Air's AirPort Card is shorter than rMBP's. So It cannot be locked by the screw.

2, The Air's AirPort Card only has two Antenna slots, J0 and J1, but the rMBP's has three slots J0, J1 and J2. I just connect the J0 and J1 when I swap the Air's card to rMBP and leave J2 unplugged.

Review this 802.11ac in retina you just won't get the throughput your expecting. Besides, you can't buy the part on the open market.

THANKS! :D

Is the signal the same as the original AirPort?

Where did you bought it?

It's not really answered, it's just suppositions.

Nobody really tried it.

Well, in a way your right. The problem is the part won't be available for quite some time. So thats all we have to work with presently.

Yeah.

Plus, I looked at the pictures of the MacBook Air AirPort, and I see that there's two holes for the antennas.

But in the MacBook Pro Retina AirPort card, there's three holes and three cables.

So it may fit and work, but the reception will maybe be affected.

The new 802.11ac AirPort board while it fits and in fact works there is a bit of a problem: The antenna's.

The AC spec requires two identical antenna's, your system does not meet the AC requirements. The bottom line here is you can't get the data rate you are hopping for with the exchange out. Why is 802.11ac not in the MacBook Pro Retina.

The other issue here is the availability of the board. Remember this is a Apple custom part! Apple's own need for building new systems will make getting this part almost impossible. Apple requires part exchange outs for this part (they want the bad 802.11ac part part back) Basically, Apple is controlling the availability of the part even as a spare. But, only swapped the boards around to see if it worked. I'm sure he didn't measure the throughput where David Schlessman did.

With the upcoming models likely to have 802.11ac support we're looking at mid year next year when the pressure for the part by Apple will subside.
