Amana Refrigerator ASD2626HEB stops running periodically

This refrigerator was in a seven-year-old house that I bought four years ago. Every six months or so, it stops working. If I unplug it and then plug it back in, it starts back up, kind of like rebooting my computer. Weighing the expense of calling a repairman versus buying a new one?

When it stops, does the interior light still work or are you losing power?

The interior light is still on, but the coldness indicator which usually shows a number, like 5, for the refrigerator and freezer has a dash (-) in it. If I don't notice it in time, the ice starts to melt.

Thank you so much for your help. I tried pressing the buttons but they didn't respond before I tried the unplug/replug trick. I'm glad to know the approximate cost. I was trying to decide if I should take my chances repairing an 11-year old appliance rather than opting for a new refrigerator. Thanks again!

옵션

The dashes show that it is turned off. Try pressing the buttons to turn it on. This signal comes from the controller board. It it doesn't work replace the main controller board.

I bought my house 5 years ago, and my Amana Bottom Freezer refrigerator has stopped cooling twice. The light still works but the temp gauges showed a dash intead of a number. Both times I have unplugged it and re-plugged it. Like resetting a computer. I hope it's still cooling in the morning!!!! Paul

After unplugging and plugging back in.....it has been working perfectly. I don't have a clue as to why it has done this twice. One possibility, there was a quick power outage (maybe 1 or 2 seconds, the day before I noticed the refrigerator had stopped cooling.
