Can a broken latch be replaced?

I don't have a problem with the two little hooks coming down. My problem is with the bottom mechanism. It looks like a piece of the metal that holds the hook broke off.

I've read that the bottom needs to be replaced, but my question is, it looks like that piece is glued on. Does anyone know if I can cut this off and re-glue another latch on?

Are you talking about the latch that holds the displays lid down?

Yes - your best source for this part would be e-bay, you may have to purchase an almost complete "for repair only" unit to secure one.
