S4 not turning on at all and doesnt charge

Charged my phone up to 100% when away on holiday using the USB cable and an adapter.

Use it down to 70% went to charge it up and it wouldn't charge assumed it was the USB cable so I switched the phone off and went to bed

Got up in the morning and tried to turn the phone on and nothing not even the Samusng screen that displays on booting the phone up.

Borrowed a friends USB cable and still nothing; doesn't charge, turn on and isn't even recognised when I plug it into my laptop.

Was wondering if anybody had any suggestions to get my phone working without losing my contact etc etc
