My OnePlus One is no longer recognizing my SIM card. I think it would help to replace the SIM slot. Does anyone know how to do that?
I'm sure I could figure out how to replace it myself if I knew which SIM slot to buy or where to get it. Also, I saw that someone else busted his SIM slot and the response was instructions on how to insert a SIM card. I know how to insert a SIM card. I am looking to fix the SIM slot.

Hello! I have the same problem. I decided to try to repair it myself, so I ordered this earlier, along with some phone repairing tools. When I receive the products I will probably look through the Oneplus One teardown by iFixit and just try my best not to mess it up. I'm very curious about how it's going to work out.

Well, thank you for that. I used your link and bought one myself. Please let me know how it turns out and if you have any tips. I have heard that you have to solder it and I've never soldered.
I just opened the back cover and removed the battery and the motherboard. I then had a look a the SIM-slot and I couldn't really figure out how it was connected or how I would remove it, so I decided to hand the motherboard and the replacement part to the repair shop for them to figure out that bit. I'm going to leave it at the repair shop on monday, I wonder what they can say or do about it. I'm leaving some photos here that I took, it may be to help for someone, I don't know.

Hi Isak, can't view the image you attached. How is the progress of your sim slot after sent to the repair shop?
The repair shop couldn't do anything about it, because the gold stuff that had fallen out were apparently placed on the motherboard, and not in the SIM slot. Replacing the SIM slot wouldn't do any difference, in my case at least.
Oh too bad, I think my case are the same with you, but I id keep my fallen gold pin, probably I will try to solder it back on the motherboard.
Hi, how do both of you doing? Do you manage to replace the sim slot that you bought? I have same problem too, and now waiting for the replacement part i bought, to be ready to repair it myself too.

I just got it in the mail today. It took a while. I'm going to take it to a repair shop and hopefully they can do it. Or if I hear back from Isak maybe he can tell us how he did it. Or maybe iFixit will make an instructional video!
Thanks Woods! I am still waiting for my replacement part, would be great if your technician can take some picture of desoldering the sim slot step ;)
I got my replacement part last week so I'm just waiting for the tools now. I've come in contact with a repair shop myself though, so I will probably leave the phone and the replacement part there. I think the chance of success is a lot better if I just let them do it. I'll probably leave the stuff this week some time and it will probably take at least a couple of days for them to do it. I'll give you an update when it's done!
Hi Isak, thanks for update. Great if have a professional to repair it, for my side, no one willing to try yet. So i think i might need to do it myself, but i will wait some advise from your technician first ;)
The phone repair shop actually wanted more money than OnePlus did. I ended up having another problem with my OPO, creating an RMA, proving my problem, they started ignoring me, I created a blog post about how terrible their customer service was with screen shots of my conversations with them, and they sent me a new OPO.

Make a box with hard plastic surrounding the sim card tightly use super glue moderately and today good to go use tweezers gloves cover gold plated sim & sim readers first get to work patience is a virtue here and a steady hand. Lol good luck let me know how you make out and another answer is to use a different one that you no longer access from another cell laying around or a buddies who has one laying around, EVERYONE HAS A FEW IF NOT AT LEAST ONE LAYING AROUND THAT IS BROKEN. i could just take the sim removal tool, which comes with the oneplus one and use that to pry the pins back up through the holes in the metal simcard cover without the cover needing to be removed. so for me the procces was easy to do, and the only thing i needed was a small philips head screwdriver.
probably not relevant to the original poster of the topic, but maybe to someone experiencing the problem now, and to stumble across this post when searching what to do (like myself just 10 minutes ago)

If you’re going to replace the SIM slot properly, you’d need a hot air or infrared SMD rework station (probably costs more than a used working phone). Also prior experience of SMD rework is an advantage as it’s easy to irreversibly screw up. Best leave it to a professional repair shop.

Guys, causes many problems like sim card slot damage after one month.
Customer care service(India-Hyderabad) is too bad and even they dont listen customer words. Asking huge(INR 18000 ($ 300)) money for service and componenets charages even it is in warrenty period.Any one have idea about this please reach me over mail (maddinenigopi2000@gmail.com)
