My Hitachi 500 GB hard disk is dead...Can it be repaired?

My hitachi 500 GB hard drive is dead. It does not respond when power is given. I have all my childhood memories in there. can it be repaired? There was some smoke came out of it when i tried to check it. and also it got a kind of a hole in its one chip, please help my email id is pardeep0598@gmail.com ..........please help

Sadly there is little you can do here.

If you can locate an second exact same model and size of your hard drive and you have the skills to carefully remove the logic board from the good drive to place on the bad drive you might be lucky. If you do get it working make a backup ASAP as it may not last.

OK, no luck in finding a second drive to swap the parts out. Your last option here is sending your drive to a data recovery service so they can try to recover your data. I must warn you it will be expensive!
