I can not make calls or receive it says fails to register on network I upgrated also to version 5 . The phone was root before and also was having the same problem ( I try and manual to register it finds the local providers but it's fail to register , I try and few SIM card )

1. Please make sure the email account is correct when you registered samsung account.
2. Land on the email, check the junk mail, check whether the validation email be intercepted.

Buy a chimeratool 3 day license. Activate usb debugging under developer options(tap buld number about 7 times). root the phone and after that do imei repair with the original imei under the battery.
other alternative is to make a new falsh with odin. you can get the firmware from sammobile . this method will delete all your information so make sure you do a backup first.
