Replace cracked digitizer on Toshiba Satellite L55T?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L55T 15.6" touch screen laptop that I've had for a couple years and a recent fall resulted in both a cracked LCD screen and a cracked digitizer (touch screen bezel).

My question is: Can I replace my cracked digitizer screen with just a regular bezel? I have already purchased a replacement LCD, btw.

Everywhere I've looked a replacement L55T digitizer (part # V000310400) is about $160, and a replacement L55 series front bezel (just the bezel & glass with no touch support, part # EABLI002A1M) is about $20. Since I never really used the touch screen, and actually disabled the touch screen feature when I bought it, I would be fine without it. However, the LCD screen has a place on top where the digitizer connects, so if I were install a regular non-touch bezel and not utilize the LCD's digitizer connection, would my laptop and screen still work?
