LCD is not respond to touch, or power on

Replaced cracked screen. The LCD after replacing screen would power on, but would not respond to any touch (could not 'slide' to unlock it at all). Now will not light up (do not know if the unit is even powered on at this point). Any ideas on how to correct this?
