GamePad Plus button no longer Functions

On my GamePad, the plus button no longer works at all. It still depresses but nothing happens when I do. The minus button works fine. Is it worth opening up the Pad and seeing if there is a loose connection I could easily reattach? There were no guides/pictures specifically dealing with the + - buttons. Thanks!
