Sony Vaio SVE151J11M using Windows 8.1. Original battery expired, replaced. Vaio Control Centre says new battery is in excellent state, Laptop will not start up on battery alone and the screen goes black if I start on mains supply and then switch off the mains. In Device Manager the ac adapter and ACPI control both seem OK. Any suggested cures?

I stumbled across a solution. Sony cunningly build in a stopper to persuade users that non-Sony batteries will not work. Open 'Task Manager', go to 'Start up', run down the list to find 'ISB Utility' and disable it. My non-Sony battery is now working just fine.
