on/off power not reacting
yesterday evening i shut off my pc as usual and this morning when i pressed the on/off button nothing happened the start light remained blank and the machine did not start

First is your power on, did you pay the electricity bill, nothing against you but i have seriously had someone call and say this same thing and their power was out
Check that it is plugged in tight to your wall or surge protector, if it is then test with a different power cord, if that has no change then most power supplies on desktops and laptops have a light where the power connects indicating that it is getting power, do you have a green light on the back of your desktop on the power supply, if not then its more than likely your power supply has gone bad, if this is the case post your model and we can find you a power supply that will work for you
