Why is my microphone not working?

While Skypeing my mom in Delaware, my microphone suddenly stopped working. My tablet isn't very old so I don't understand why it all of a sudden stopped working. I would like to continue to Skype my mother so any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Your microphone port might be clogged. Check it to make sure that no dust is stuck in there. Also try re-starting or resetting your tablet just in case there is an issue with the software.
