Just fixed ps3 ylod with the iFixit kit.
Seems to have done the trick.
However, I now get error code 80010201.
Seems to suggest Network Connection error.
The machine still remembers my existing wireless network when I try a connection test, which then fails. I have tried to set up new connections both wired and wireless without success. So, please does anyone have any other ideas?

This error typically occurs when there is a problem with the network board in the PS3.
Which isn't good news :(
Or you might be lucky, and find it is just the cable :)
things to check:
1) try plugging the network cable into a different port on the router
2) check the corresponding LED for the new port - any activity?
3) unplug the cable, and try to connect wireless (as a test). If the PS3 can't see any wireless networks (assuming there are some to see), then it is the card Smiley Sad
If it can see them, chances are it is the cable, or the router Smiley Happy
Always worth unplugging and re-plugging the network cable at both ends, and / or trying a different cable

Hi Paul,
Thank you for the info.
I stripped the PS3 down again and found that the cable from the card reader into the board was loose. Reconnected this and all is now well!
