Repurposing an original Garmin eTrex

I have an original Garmin eTrex, purchased in 1996, and the screen has failed on it. I've searched for replacement screens, but it appears to be too old for replacement parts to be available.

What I'm looking for instead are possible repurposing ideas so that the device can still be used.
