When the car stops will it start again right away or is it difficult to start. Just a few things you can check . your coil, your fuel filter which is likely the most probable cause followed closely by the fuel pump. You may also want to check for a leaky fuel line . Does the car have power when it starts or does it immediately bog down and die if so see if the air filter is plugged . Is the car throwing any OBDII codes if so which ones knowing can help. Hope this is helpful let us know how you make out

Things to check :
> Check your fault codes - if the Check Engine light is on (Having access to VCDS Ross-tech helps, or a solid VW scan tool)
> Check all fuses. (far left side of dash, by door - pop cover off) *definitely check fuel pump fuse*
If fuses are all good, then pop hood…
> Locate your ignition Coils / Spark Plugs (Will have to remove plastic engine cover)
** (purchase an ignition coil/Spark Tester.. They’re fairly cheap)
> Test each of your Ignition Coils & Spark plugs with tester.
> Can also use a digital multimeter to test if your ignition coils are good/bad too… It’s not complicated, but you’re going to have to Google / Youtube it per whatever type of ignition coils your vehicle has.
** When you remove your first ignition coil, as well as all the other ones, peer down in each of the cylinders and make sure your spark plugs aren’t swimming in oil.**
> [IF YES] then you need to remove each ignition coil and each spark plug — use a rag and clean up all the oil. wipe down your plugs, down inside the cylinder, and check the boots on each of your ignition coils and make sure they weren’t sitting in oil too... If any of them have oil all up in the boot or whatever, they may be bad. {I had two of mine go bad, and this seemed to be the reason why} Either way wipe everything down good before you even attempt to put it back together… BUT-
> If you did have oil on your plugs and/or coils, then you probably need to replace your “valve cover gasket/s” {I also had to do this }

>> If everything up to here so far has checked out good for you, then I would maybe recommend checking your fuel filter and also listen for your fuel pump right before you start the vehicle, also check that your air filter isn’t clogged up… also check your belt as well - make sure it’s not feeling loose or has any cracks and whatnot. annd, if it continues to start but then wants to die shortly after… start again and gas the $@$* out of it and leave foot on the gas — after you revved it good a few times, continue to leave your foot on the gas just enough to keep it running until the engine gets warm then ease off of the accelerator and see if she’ll stay running or not— Good luck<<
