I cracked the screen on my phone recently went about trying to fix it myself. I am kind of short on cash so I tried replacing the screen only and not the lcd. When I tried separating the screen from the lcd, the dark glass part remained on the broken screen and the light grey bit remained behind. I was just wondering if there was a lesse expensive way to repair the phone without having to replace the entire front assembly.

Its galaxy S5 !!! You need a lot of work to separate the upper glass from LCD and a lot more work you separate LCD from the frame !!! Just buy a full glass-LCD-frame replacement

Here is the video showing how to replace only the s5 glass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfJ2ap2p... . It seems a little bit complex and ask for the professional skills and repair equipment. It may be difficult for a DIY repair work, and you'd better replace the whole screen including the lcd screen and touchscreen and the front glass.
