Battery not recognised when plugged in

When I connect my magsafe it will turn on macbook without pressing the power button and when booted up i have the X over the battery and the magsafe stays on orange as system says battery not installed.. Ive tried 2 different batteries but still the same.. The battery connector on the logic board looks a bit kind of worn so could this be the problem and could i replace it in any way
