How to hard reset when it wont allow it?

My son has locked me completely out of my g pad lte. I do not remember the email or the pw used for it and it is also in safe mode. I have tried the hard reset and so on and it just wants to restart it. it never wants to bring up the reboot options. How can I get to reset this when it is not allowing it to happen as it is???

turn it off fully,

make it stays off them press both the volume down and power button at the same time, hold them until the lg logo shows up let them both go then press them again right after letting them go
