My 2015 12-inch MacBook is not charging. I need the data.

My 2015 macbook was all fine. Then all of sudden it won't charge. I went to Apple Store, they said they can repair it since it is under warranty, but the data will not be backed up.

Then I open the back lid while charging it. I can only see the light that I circled in picture is on:

Any guru here? I don't need to fully fix the macbook charging issue, I will let Apple do that. But I really need some data in there. What I wish is that I can turn it on in any way. Copy/send the important files to my Google Drive. Then let Apple do the rest part.

Anyone even knows what that light on is for? Maybe I can try to turn it on by any chance? I try SMC reset thing. No luck:(

Use an external hard USB hard drive and run Time Machine before your battery goes south.

At ths point it's time to go to an ASP (Authorized Service Provider instead of Apple. They can do the warranty work. Your data is on an integrated chip on the logic board and thus can not be removed. If you were using iCloud, your data will be stored there or and external backup. An ASP will go farther with you than Apple. They can hook up a battery (which you may have to buy as a spare since the 2015 batteries have not started failing in most cases. Get the battery in first so diagnostics and possible recovery can be done. They will probably charge you $50 for this extra service as Apple will not reimburse them for data recovery time but you at least have a shot. They can then do the warranty work. The smaller the shop the more personal service you can get. Look for a shop that has a high reputation for customer service. Apple is just a massive corporation and they don't really care.

Mayer, thanks a lot! I did go to an asp this afternoon before I see your comment. Thanks anyway! Hope people don't buy MacBook 12-inch. Definitely a bad idea!
