takes hours to charge fully,but then only last a hour...

what kind of battery does this model take and how do I fix it?Also when charging,Ive been told to leave off and Ive been told to turn it on..Which one is correct?Thank You

not sure the battery type but leave it off when charging and its normal for it to take hours to charge
