Phone says its charging yet battery stats say otherwise?

Long story short, phone was dropped down the toilet and didn't work. Took it to bits, cleaned it up and replaced the battery. The phone is now fully working apart from one minor problem.

When it's on charge, everything shows it is charging. The notification bar indicator and even when its powered off, the charging animation is showing.

If I go into battery stats though, it says that the battery is not charging, however it is at a constant 44% and not increasing or decreasing.

What are your thoughts on this. The battery is a genuine battery, could it be duff?
