My computer will start to work slower and then it will randomly go to a black screen. After it turns black, I'm often not able to recover what I was working on again. The screen will not change from anything except black.

The main issue with a black screen tends to be the battery. Take the battery out, hold down the power button for a full minute then restart the computer. This should do a hard reset and get the screen to work again.

When did you last replace your battery? I would bet that a 6 year old laptop battery would not be very good by now. Even when connected with an AC adapter, the battery is still part of the power circuit.

im sure that its of the os performance and fans. Download windows 7 or windows 8.1
