It was working but after storage it doesn't charge, only shows the red battery image and now nothing at all. Battery is dead now. Have had it connected before so it is not cable or 30 pin connector. Any ideas? I think the battery is bad.

The battery very well could have completely discharged while stored. It's a fairly simple fix and it's not expensive.

Actually the new battery acted the same , about to replace the 30 pin dock connector.
