Solid orange charging light and no screen response

So i got a Ps vita slim from my friend who had gotten it off ebay. it worked perfectly fine for around two weeks and then one day it shut off. he plugged it in over night hoping it would power on but never did. it had a solid orange charging light at the top where the charging light on a slim is because the PS button doesn't light up and when you press it unlike some of the things Ive come across where it pops up a battery icon with a dash through it the orange light doesn't blink when you press the power button and the vita seems to not get a charge or is simply not holding one. im wondering if this is a battery problem or a motherboard problem. It is a vita PCH-2001 model and is the wifi model. thanks for any answers/ suggestions i get and any thought counts.
