updated itunes but error still there
so i updated itunes and after trying to restore ipod it says unknown error 1600 any suggestions

You will need to put the iPod into DFU mode and do a restore through iTunes.
1. Connect iPod to computer via USB then Power off the device.
2. Hold the power button and home button for 10 seconds.
3. Release the power button after ten seconds and continue to hold until it appears in iTunes
4. Perform retore.
