I plan to upgrade to 16GB RAM, I have installed two 4GB-Pin DIMM's 512MX72 DDR3 memory totaling 8GB RAM
If I add a memory of 8GB DDR 1600 to total 16GB will I have some performance problem?
What is the ideal frequency so I can upgrade to 16GB? I have a memory of 8GB 1600 but I have doubts if I can use it on my computer.

Your system needs: 240-pin PC3-10600E (1066 MHz) DDR3 ECC SDRAM. Here's a good source and they offer a nice table to help you figure out the different setups: OWC - Memory Upgrades for Apple Mac Pro
As it turns out you can boost it to a max of 48 GB! (3rd party tested). Frankly, I think you'll find 16 GB is good for most heavy gamers, picture editing and video editors if that is your usage. Otherwise 10 to 12 GB will meet most peoples needs.
As to mixing your old and new RAM just keep an eye on the banks, you don't want to mix modules within a bank. Frankly, I don't like to mix and as you only have four sockets you might as well replace all of your RAM modules going with four - 4GB Modules (16GB total) that way you get the best performance of the dual channel and interleaving.

Video editing for a YouTube channel and speed is somewhat relevant, to not get behind in the editing (their's a bit of wishful thinking in that last remark). Thanks for the input have used them before.

OK adding in two 8GB modules will push you to 24GB of RAM do you need this much? As I stated you can mix!
Just as long as you don't mix within the bank. Here's Apple's TN on loading RAM: Mac Pro (Mid 2012 and earlier): How to remove or install memory The lower two slots are Bank 0 and the two upper slots are Bank 1. As to using the faster clocked RAM it won't run any faster than what the systems clocking is. So it should work here, but you are paying a bit more for it needlessly.
