it says I have text messages when I don't have any new texts to open up is there anyway to troubleshoot the phone while hooked up to the computer. I rebooted the system and about to factory rest the phone is that the best way to go about it.

klynowskydakota2013, This info is from 1st link below, by B Diddy. Try going to Settings>Apps>All, select Messaging, and Clear Cache, then Force Stop. Now try opening the Messaging app again. If this didn't help, you could also try Clear Data, but this might delete any text messages you've saved. I'm never quite sure if this is the case, but I always have to warn people, since they might keep valuable texts stored in their phone. Check the links below for more info. Good luck.
