no sound after headphone jack removal

hello i have a sharp lcd 32 inch tv , the headphone jack broke the only way to get sound was to insert a cocktail stick , now that stopped working , so i decided to remove the head phone jack completely , worked fantastic for a hour or two , now the sound has started going off ranging from a few minutes to an hour so , the only way to get it back working is to turn the tv off and on again , so haven't got a clue what is going on , any clues please ?
