Backlight is not working

My ipod was splashed with water from my pool recently. I dried it off immediately and let it dry out for 4 days before turning it on again. I hooked it up to my computer and everything seemed to be in working order, but I couldn't see the screen. I realized a day later, the backlight wasn't working. I can only see the screen when in direct light. It still plays music and I can still navigate through it, but I would like to be able to see what I'm doing. How exactly can this be fixed?
