Nothing shows on screen when keyboard/trackpad is plugged in.

I replaced the LCD on a 2015 Retina MacBook and now the laptop isn't showing anything on the screen except a battery indicator when plugging in the laptop. However after unplugging the keyboard/trackpad from the mainboard the image comes up right away and the laptop boots. I was able to plug in the keyboard/trackpad after the laptop booted and then the trackpad would work but the keyboard still wouldn't. It's also worth mentioning that the power button still works fine when the rest of the keyboard doesn't. My thought at this point is that the laptop is rejecting the new LCD but I have no way of testing that. Has anyone seen this issue before or have any thoughts? Thanks!

Why did you have to replace the screen to begin with, and what is the history of this device?

It was a cracked screen. I don't know the whole history of the device as it is a customers, but I believed it may have been dropped.

May be it was like that before? Was anything visible using the old screen?

Possibly, nothing was visible before if I remember correctly, the weird thing is that the image comes up fine and the laptop boots completely normally right after I unplug the keyboard

I don't recall such an instance where keyboard prevents laptop from displaying an image. I know it can prevent it from booting.

So if your computer is not booting, you need to consider the keyboard or trackpad or cables between them and the board. If your computer is booting but not showing an image, I wouldn't know why but would still try to isolate one of the above.

I have replaced a lot of LCD panels and full lid assemblies for this model with no issues, so it will not be a screen problem,

Sounds like the keyboard may be shorting PP3V3_G3H or PP5V_S0 to ground and preventing initial boot when it is plugged in. These are the only voltages which could be affected by the keyboard, the rest are trackpad related. Nothing links to the battery itself as far as I am aware, but this model is a lot different than older models (for example, will not boot after disassembling unless you plug the charger in), so it may show the no battery screen if certain signals aren't present.

I would buy a test keyboard and go from there. Check the whole of the logic board for liquid damage too, this model is badly designed, so the liquid tends to pool around the board, since there is nowhere for it to drain.

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to try and replace the keyboard/trackpad cable first as it is a lot cheaper, all the keyboards I can find are around $300. I don't suppose you know where to get them for a reasonable price?

China or eBay. I know UK keyboards have a shortage for this model, but can get a US one for about 50$-70$ from China.

Awesome, thank you!
