Touch ID not working after replacement digitizer

I replaced the digitizer after smashing screen and have been unable to get the Touch ID working. It is the original home button and I'm almost 100% certain there was no damage caused to home button during removal. I have tried with the old screen and it still doesn't work. Any suggestions possible causes/solutions please.

Thanks for response, I also forgot to mention that the first replacement digitizer was defective and left a small amount of debris in logic board which I have cleared. Could the logic be damaged? It looks ok.

It is possible the home button wiring in the iPhone 6s LCD assembly that routes to the logic board is either defective or damaged. However, because your old one is similarly doing the same thing I'm less inclined to think that is the problem and, rather, you have a poorly connected button or torn cable.

Double check that the Touch ID sensor is securely connected to the FPC connector at the bottom of the LCD and make sure the screen is securely fastened to the logic board.

If those don't fix the problem then I would guess it's that your HB cable is torn. These cables are very fragile and tears can be microscopic but still interefere with things.

Final note: make sure you always perform repairs with your device powered off. It is possible the problem is resolved with a restart as well if you did not do this in the first place. Power off the phone. Reconnect everything as normal, and power back on to retest.
