Kenmore washer won't drain

@button if the washer won't drain water the drain pump might be defective. It's also common for a small sock or other article of clothing to get caught in the drain pump or in the drain hose. Check both for an obstruction before replacing the pump.

I would remove the drain plug from the filter at the water pump.

I would start by taking the lower front panel off. There are two bolts, one on each side of the panel, remove those. Once you have the panel removed, you will see a white plastic unit, that is your pump assembly. You should also see a round plug with a plastic tab across the front (number 14 in the explosion drawing). That is your coin trap. Open the cap by twisting it counterclockwise and remove it. It may just be clogged. Make sure that you have a large tub or something under it. there is a lot of water coming at you.
