Permanent green shadow on screen, after problems at startup (MacBook)

My (I admit it, really old) Macbook, that I love a lot, suddenly didn't turn on anymore today. After an hour, I tried again and it worked, but now the screen is green (like a haze or a shadow). I searched other forums, but in my case the colour stays permanently (except sometimes it stops suddenly for some seconds and than starts again), even after turning on and off, waiting, taking battery out (advantage of old macbooks) and so on. Screenshots taken are fine if viewed on another device.

I can still use it, but is there any chance I could fix this? I am in Thailand right now and don't exactly trust local repair services, but if there is a probability of easy fixing I will give it a try. Otherwise I will have to work on a green laptop... Also warranty is long gone.

I exchanged the hard drive for an SSD a while ago and changed the battery several times.

I have an issue that is relatable to this forum. My Late 2009 MacBook Unibody which has the 9400M graphics chipset, is suffering problems for having green spots around the screen where the color should be black. I think this problem is caused by a failing graphics chip. But i think there is a chance that it is a driver issue.

I had the same problem too. Was the SSD new or was it used on another computer? Because if it was used, you should format it. Or it could be the problem with the 9400M. Because Apple and NVIDIA had an issue with the chip and it would cause it to basically become useless. If its not the SSD, take it to the Apple store and get it checked.

Hook it up to an external monitor and see if the issue persists. If it does you have a GPU failure. The models that had GPU problems were the nVidia 8600 not this one.
