Repairing Air Injection valve (Error Code P2440)

I have a Toyota Corolla XRS 2006 Which has around 180 000kms on it. The engine light turned on so I took it to a mechanic and he told me that the error code was P2440 which was for the air injection valves near the motor. I looked around the internet and saw that there were ways to fix it but not a detailed enough one for me to follow. I have mechanical experience but I would like to try and fix it.

I don't have any mechanical guidance for you, but I did a bit of googling.

Here's how to clean that valve:

And this is a diagnostic for a similar, P0505 error.

Also try poking around for solutions to P2441.

The only difference between P2441 and P2440 is that in the P2440 the SVS is stuck open instead of closed.
