What kind of wire is this?

I bought new speakers for my Gameboy Color and I saw that the wires where completely broken so I desoldered them and now I need to buy new wire for replacement, but what kind of wire is this? and what size?

Can you not just strip back the insulation a little further on the existing wire? But wire is wire - you don't need anything special. If you've got to go out and buy some you'd probably want to go for 22 gauge solid core hook-up wire.
