Home button extension cable replacement

While attempting to unscrew the cover plate on the inside of my iPhone 7, I ripped the home button cable that connects between the logic board and the backplate. Is there a replacement part for this?

Since my iPhone's home button assembly (with its separate ribbon cable) is still completely intact, will it keep its touch id capabilities after I replace the extending ribbon cable?

Thanks!

You need to replace the screen. I'm fairly sure the cable is part of the display assembly.

Edit: Just checked, it's part of the backlight / 3d touch layer of the screen just like the 6s models have.

the oem cable is under the digitizer, but you can replace it easily. https://youtu.be/GsOm4FTaERo

You probably wont find a “replacement part” but you should easily find a broken display with the cables still attached. I usually snip the redundant cable where the connector protrudes from the inner layers and then grab a display out of my junk pile, pry it open, steal the cable and then retrofit/adhere it to the shield on the back of the display.

It's built into the 3D-Touch sensor/backlight panel. You have to replace them all, there is no "just home button" extension cable to begin with.

buy just the backlight panel with the logic board flex cable built in to it. If I do so and install it with the original home button will I still have access to Touch ID so long as I don't try to update IOS

benjamen50 is right but to add, as long as your home button and its flex (like you said - totally separate) is fine then I can't imagine any reason why you would lose touch ID. And I haven't had any issues updating your iOS from this? And I don't recommend replacing the part of the screen that you damaged on its own. Anyways just be careful with the new one! And I'm definitely wondering if you have a 6s by the way you described your home button flex.

According to Apple, the iphone 7 and +, and all later models. The home button ribbon can not be changed useless by a certified apple store engineer. The finger print and lock screen software are locked together so if you have damaged the ribbon of the home button, it will need calibrating with a special machine that only Apple has (They do not let other repairers have access to this machine). The only way is to use the original home button and ribbon off the phone it came with and to have someone bond the ribbon together. There are video’s of this being done on You Tube. The repairs are not guaranteed to work so it’s a bit hit and miss - good luck!
