Why was my Front load washer spilling water during fill?

This is not a question but an answer that I have not found anywhere else.

Laundry PACs! I spent two days trouble shooting our Bosch Nexxt front load. I could not duplicate the spill problem until I ran a real load and put a Pac in the dispenser. There is a grate I didn't see until I used a flashlight down the soap feed. The PAC was partially damming and splashing all the fill water over the side! Why is this soap tray not water tight? If we use PACs now, I put them directly into the tub.
