Black Screen Desktop Visible w/ Light Shined

Hi,

Today my MacBook fell off my bed in my backpack. Later I tried booting it up, but was met with a black screen. Randomly maybe 2 hours later the display came back.

Since then the display has reverted to black, though I am able to see the desktop with a light shining through the logo and have been using it connected to an external monitor.

What are the most likely scenarios? I am cautiously optimistic that maybe the connection might have been harmed and I will not need to replace the LCD or Logic Board, just because the display did return.

Any clues would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help!

P.S. I have screwdrivers coming in tomorrow so I can open it up an have a better look.
