Why have all the words disappeared from my prompts?

When I go to delete photo(s) I get no prompts at all. There are the icons on the screen but anything that requires the printed word has been struck dumb, just blank spaces. There are no words on the menu What's happening?

The above link is to the user's manual for your camera. Go to the setup menu (see Page 88). Check the Monitor Settings and Language for anything odd. If all else, you can Reset All (see Page 89) to reset everything to factory settings.
