Why does my phone restart instead of sleeping?

Upgraded from Kitkat to Lollipop, latest version, no root, yet phone continues restarting whenever it enters sleep mode, either through the power button being pressed or through inactivity. Annoying as !&&*! Makes an otherwise attractive phone about as useful as a brick. :/
