I get no sound from my JBL Go. It’s pairing fine and the microphone works but it won’t play anything even when connected with an aux cable. It doesn’t even beep when I switch it on (which I gather from YouTube troubleshooting videos it should). Is there anything I can do other than bin it?

If everything seems to be ok with your JBL Go: bluetooth syncs, it charges when plugged to an USB port, etc., then most likely either the speaker itself, or the auido amplifier (or both) is damaged and their replacement might repair your unit.
The audio amplifier chip is the LM48511 from Texas Instruments, at least, that’s what my JBL GO uses. (https://www.ti.com/product/LM48511).
If you are more or less skillfull with the soldering iron, I would try to:
* First: Open the unit and see visual damage on the components. Like burnt areas, visibly damaged parts, rust, etc.
* If no visual damages are present, I would replace the audio amplifier. In my case LM48511 from TI. Bear in mind that even being the same product, different parts might be used as there may exist different versions of the same product. It’s your responsability to use the correct part!
* If that doesn’t help, then I would repace the speakers.
* If even so, your speaker continues not working… further analysis with the oscilloscope will be needed…
I hope you didn’t trash your JBL GO speaker so you can try now these suggestions! Good luck!
