No/black home screen, everything else works

My phone works except it needs restarted quite often. It glitches some what but i mainly want to fix the fact that my phone doesnt seem to have a home screen, when i hit the home button when i have a screen up it will leave and come back, and if i do get to "go home" the screen will stay black. But i can still swipe down for the settings and other things up there.
