(Working) Polaroid Sun 660 flash stuck charging

I little while back, I purchased a Sun 660 AF camera. The camera works perfectly, and i've taken a ton of great photos, but unfortunately the flash doesn't work. The charging indicator is constantly red, with the high pitched charging sound always present. The camera only takes photos when I bypass the flash, as it never fully charges. This cannot be a result of the film, as I have been using brand new Polaroid originals film. Is there anyway I can fix this issue? I was wanting to give this camera as a gift to my friend, but I would hate to give then something with this issue.
