Sadly enough my friends ds top screen has turned green. The screws for changing the voltage on the screens are completely gone for some reason? could this be causing the issue? Will replacing the component possibly fix it?

Hi!
You should first try replacing that ribbon, as you said. I’m not sure however if they are easy to find or not (my 2 minutes on google trying to find a link for you came up with nothing, but you could still find something if you dig deeper).
If this does not solve your problem, try replacing the screen that’s turning green: Upper screen, Lower Screen.

Thing is, replacing the screen would be more expansive for me then just buying a new console so i wanna know if betting on replacing the cable will be worth it.
Hmm... What if you buy a faulty console that has both the screen and the cable intact?
I'm not sure if replacing the cable will fix your issue after all the sole purpose of that connection is to regulate the voltage that goes to the screen, not the image itself.
Have been looking for one in my country but littuarly can't find any at all
